The French association for standardisation (AFNOR) is recognised as a public utility. Its missions is to draft and co-ordinate the preparation of norms, to represent and defend the interests in all the standards authorities, to confirm the norms, promote and make easier the utilisation ofstandards, develop the products certification, services and systems, and the "NF" brand.
The technical centre of mechanical industry (CETIM) has as its object to contribute to the development of the research, with the improvement of productivity and with the guarantee of quality in the mechanical industry.

The European Oil Hydraulic and Pneumatic Committee (CETOP) groups together national associations of 13 countries (approximately 700 companies). Its objectives are to exchange economic and statistical information, to contribute to various manifestation in the field, to prepare recommendations in contact with national standards organisations and to participate in ISO and CEN committees.

The French Federation of mechanical industry (FIM) has the responsibilities of the economic and technical interests of professions and firms. Its strength is to help the firms to produce in France and to extend in world-wide markets.

FIM and CETIM are the main partners of The Union of Normalisation of Mechanic which manages the integration of French, European and International standards in the mechanical sector.
